RSVP is back!

JLP is reprinting a Special Edition of "RSVP, An Invitation to Maine Cooking" to commemorate the 85th Anniversary of the Junior League of Portland.

"Discover the wide range of tempting treats that Maine is famous for, from hearty favorites to elegant specialties. Party planning is a piece of cake, that is, when you choose one of the thirty-one artfully planned and easily prepared menus. From Camden to Kennebunkport, Mainers have opened their hearts and their kitchens to share their most prized recipes with you!"

League Price = $17.95; Non-League Price = $19.95

Books will be on sale February 29th. Members of the Publishing Committee will be attending this month's neighborhood GM meetings for those interesting in placing orders at that time. Books will also be on sale at March's GMM meeting on March 26.

February Neighborhood Meetings

Instead of a GMM in February, please attend one of the following Neighborhood Meetings.

Meetings are POT LUCK so please bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Drinks will be provided by the hostesses (soda, water) & Board members (wine).

Please be prepared to share your thoughts & feedback about:

  • Fundraisers (especially Holiday Extravaganza & Publishing)
  • New Focus Area Selection (Money Management, Nutrition, and Self-Esteem of Girls - Members will be voting on the new focus area at the March GMM. Community Research will have a representative at each Neighborhood meeting to answer any questions.)
  • Transition of Blueberries & Moose (formally turning it over to the community)
  • Kids in the Kitchen (how you can get involved - KITK will have a representative at each meeting.)
  • TIME: 6:30 p.m. Social, 7 p.m. Meeting

    From ME Turnpike exit 53 (West Falmouth) -5 minutes: Turn left onto Gray Road Route100 (Hannaford shopping center). Go 1 mile and turn RIGHT at 2nd light onto Falmouth Road. Bear LEFT onto Winn Rd. Go 1.5 miles and turn RIGHT on Field Road (Winfield School on corner). First LEFT onto Terison Drive, first house on the right (Grey house with porch). From 295 exit 10 (Bucknam Rd)-10 minutes. Turn right onto Bucknam Rd. Turn Right at light (Nina's Variety) onto Rt 9. At blinking light turn LEFT onto Woods Rd and go past Woodlands Country Club. At end of Woods Rd, turn LEFT onto Woodville Road. Go 1/2 mile and turn RIGHT onto Field Road. After the RR tracks, take 3rd RIGHT onto Terison Drive, first house on the right (Grey house with porch).

    From 295 take the Forest Avenue exit, going west away from Portland.

    Follow through 4 lights.

    At the 5th light, the road will bend to the right & there will be a Dunkin Donuts on the left (Woodfords Corner)

    At the next light, bear right onto Ocean Avenue which goes between the Rite Aid & KFC.

    Follow for @1/2 mile. There will be a closed deli on the left. Take the next left after the deli onto Carlyle Rd.

    My house is @ 2/3 up the block on the right. It is a gray shingled cape with a 2 car garage on the left. There's a woodpile next to the driveway.

    JLP Chosen by MANP to Exhibit at Nonprofit Day at the State House, February 7!

    The Junior League of Portland was 1 of 12 nonprofits chosen by Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP) to exhibit in the Hall of Flags during Nonprofit Day at the State House, Thursday February 7 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 in Augusta. In addition to networking & exhibits, this event features: Educational Sessions, An Insiders Tour of the State House, and Blaine House Tea. Interested in volunteering?
